JPMorgan Chase has named firm vets Doug Petno and Filippo Gori as global banking co-heads, according to an internal memo seen Monday by Reuters and Bloomberg.
The shuffling is the first under Jenn Piepszak and Troy Rohrbaugh, who were placed atop the new commercial and investment banking business in January.
By combining commercial, corporate and investment banking under Gori and Petno, the firm is “better aligning our coverage of clients as they grow in size and complexity,” Piepszak and Rohrbaugh said in the memo, according to Bloomberg.
“We are industry leaders today across our investment banking, commercial banking and corporate banking franchises,” they wrote, according to Bloomberg. “We have no doubt that Filippo and Doug, two outstanding leaders known for their hard work, dedication and integrity, will continue that tradition while driving us forward.”
Petno, who had led JPMorgan’s commercial banking operations since 2012, joined JPMorgan more than three decades ago. He previously served as global head of JPMorgan’s natural resources investment banking group and as chief operating officer for commercial banking.
Gori, who had been Asia-Pacific CEO since 2020, joined the firm in 2000. In addition to co-leading global banking, he will serve as CEO of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, according to Reuters.
Sjoerd Leenart, most recently global head of corporate banking, according to LinkedIn, will succeed Gori as CEO of Asia-Pacific, according to a separate memo seen by Reuters. Leenart joined the firm in 1999.
Gori will move from Hong Kong to London for his new roles.
JPMorgan did not return a request for comment.
