Dive Brief:
-
JPMorgan Chase has named Nicole Giles, its firmwide controller, CFO of its corporate and investment bank, according to a memo obtained by CFO Dive.
-
Prior to the controller role, Giles served as finance chief of the bank's investor services business, which includes custody and fund services. In that role, she oversaw controls, strategy and financial planning, the memo said.
-
Giles joined the firm's Australian branch as a managing director in 1996 and has held positions across business lines in Australia, Singapore and Japan.
Dive Insight:
JPMorgan Chase is one of the more female-inclusive banks when it comes to C-suite leadership. The firm's CFO, Jennifer Piepszak, took over from Marianne Lake in 2019, when Lake was promoted to CEO of Chase's consumer lending business, the memo said.
Giles' appointment means the firm's two largest divisions are led by women CFOs. Sarah Youngwood has served as CFO of the bank's consumer and community banking division since 2016.
Giles replaces Jeremy Barnum, who moves to head of global research. He had been CFO and chief of staff of the corporate and investment bank since 2013, the memo said.
Derek Waldron will assume the corporate and investment bank chief of staff role, in addition to other positions.
Representatives for Giles declined to comment.
