Former Citi executive Tyler Dickson has joined Blackstone as global head of client relations for its credit and insurance unit, the investment management company said Tuesday.
Dickson will lead Blackstone Credit & Insurance’s (BXCI) Institutional Client Solutions team and partner on BXCI’s origination efforts with borrowers worldwide.
“This announcement adds to the exceptional momentum of our BXCI business, driven by strong demand from institutional, insurance and private wealth clients,” said Jon Gray, president and chief operating officer of Blackstone, in a prepared statement. “Tyler will help us build a one-stop solution across corporate and asset-based, as well as investment grade and non-investment grade, private credit.”
Dickson previously spent 30 years at Citi, most recently as global head of investment banking and vice chair of banking and international. He led the firm’s mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital raising, structured finance and syndicated lending in 95 countries globally, according to his hiring announcement.
He had been seen as a contender to lead Citi’s banking unit, according to Bloomberg. The job, though, went to Viswas Raghavan, JPMorgan Chase’s previous head of global investment banking.
The segment Dickson is set to grow is already Blackstone’s fastest growing, more than doubling to $300 billion in assets under management in the last three years, according to the company.
“I’ve admired Blackstone’s innovation since leading the firm’s IPO in 2007,” Dickson said in a prepared statement. “I’m excited to join Gilles [Dellaert, global head of BXCI] and the rapidly growing BXCI business which is remarkably well positioned to serve clients and borrowers at a time of extraordinary opportunity in private credit.”
